FAQ

Power Music was created by CambronSoftware

Will Power Music work on an Apple Mac?

It will not run on the MacOSX because it is a Windows application. It will only run in a Windows OS. If your Apple Mac runs Windows in one of the virtual machines available for the Mac then you can install Power Music.

How can I get Power Music?

Go to the Download page and choose the correct version for your operating system. This is the latest version and can be unlocked by purchasing a licence key from Cambron Software.

I cannot download exes

Download the zipped version. This must be unzipped ie. extracted before double-clicking on setup.exe

I get an error message when installing

For more information on installation problems see the discussion 'Install Problems?'.
If this doesn't help contact Cambron Software directly or post your reply to that discussion.

It is very easy to transpose chord sheets in Power Music. Will it also transpose sheet music?

No. Sheet music is stored as images in Power Music. These are 'captured' from existing images, from .pdf files or from scanning directly into Power Music. Power Music then displays these images on screen rather than having to use paper copies - the transpose feature only applies to chord sheets which have been entered in the chord sheet editor.

How do I control the page movement in Power Music?

The Up/Down arrows on the keyboard control movement through the piece of music.
Pressing the Up/Down arrow keys will display previous/next page(s).

The Left/Right arrows on the keyboard display the previous/next song.
Page Up displays the previous song. Page Down displays the next page of the song or displays the next song, which ever comes next.

A foot pedal can be used to simulate PageUp/Down. See Page/Score turner

Why does my sheet music appear small when I import to another computer?

When you 'capture' the sheet music in the song editor it is saved as an image using the resolution at which it is displayed. Therefore, when adding sheet music use the largest screen resolution you will be viewing it on.

What is the difference between the trial version and the full version?

They are both the same program but some of the features are locked in the trial version until you enter a product licence key. The trial version will only allow you to add up to 5 songs and no backup/restore or import/export is available.

How does the licensing work?

There are three levels of licence:

  • Single PC licence - one installation on one computer. Suggested uses: Individual musicians or for one band member to use on their own or as a resource for other band members eg, printing chord sheets, output to multiple monitors for performance.
  • 5 PC licence - installation allowed on up to 5 computers. Suggested uses: up to 5 band members can each can install the software on their own PC or laptop. Different musicians can then use the format they prefer for each song.
  • 10 PC licence - installation allowed on up to 10 computers. Suggested uses: as for 5 user but extend the use for a larger band.

There are some allowances with the single licence:

  • There is no restriction on the number of monitors displaying the music from a single computer, so a single licence can be used with one computer connected to multiple monitors using a video switch.
  • If the principal user prepares at home and exports songs for import to the main computer (ie. for group performance) then the single licence can be used in this instance on both computers. However, if other users want to use Power Music at home or if Power Music is used on more than one PC in an organisation in the same building, then multiple licences must be bought.

If you are unsure what you need, then start with a single licence. This can be upgraded later to 5 or 10 PC licences for approximately the difference in price.
