Power Music Users

Power Music users discussion network

We have been testing Power Music for compatibilty with Windows 7 and, provided you download the correct version, it should install without any problems.
The different installations available are on the download page
Do not use the previous version (this is retained for XP SP2 users), because the installation of SQL Server Express will fail with the SP2 version.

If anyone has problems with the installation of Power Music on Windows 7, please let us know.

I have checked out the latest version of Power Music on a Windows 7 (32-bit) PC and there was no problem - SQL Server Express installed fine, but you have to use the SP3 version.
Has anyone out there tried the 64-bit version? I haven't tried that myself, so would be interested to hear...

Installed on Windows 7 x64, although I had to grab SQL from Microsoft direct.
Used it for the first time in worship last night, worked fine - no problems with on-the-fly alterations of playlists.
Can't add .pdf's, but they did import from my backup file when I restored them.
Great to see you at Mission Worship by the way!!!

Great to meet you too, Alun.
The x64 issues will hopefully be sorted in the next few days as we upgrade the activeX component which is used to view pdfs and integrate with scanners. This is a third party component we have now discovered is not compatible with x64 systems.
We will also investigate the SQL installation. Thanks for your feedback - it is really helpful.

Thanks Brenda,
Just thought I'd expand a little about the system I'm using. I've got Power Music on an Acer Aspire laptop, running 64-bit Windows 7 on a Pentium T4300 2.10GHz processor.
Thanks for the quick reply.

OK, not an install issue as such but I couldn't find a more suitable thread.
When I go to print a song sheet the report opens fine in Crystal Reports, but won't print.
This might be an issue with Crystal Reports, I've read there are some issues at the moment.
I'm working around by exporting the song sheet and saving it as a .pdf for printing and this works fine.

Thanks, Alun. We will have a look at this.

Alun - does the print dialog pop up at all, or does nothing happen when you press print?

Hi Brenda,
No response at all when I press print - Task Manager doesn't report a process running either.

Thanks, Alun. As usual it is the third party components which are giving problems - not the program itself!
Have you tried the reports on your 32 bit PC or is this just a problem with Windows 7 x64?

I suspected it may have been.
I haven't tried it on my 32 bit pc, but I'll zap it on there quickly (just to test - I'll take it off afterwards - licence, licence!).
This will probably be tomorrow.
Thanks

It is okay to have it on both machines at home as long as it is for your own use only.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I'll post the result here once I've tried the print function on the other pc.
