Power Music Users

Power Music users discussion network

Power Music users are always urged to adhere to copyright laws and to reproduce music within the terms of their MRL (Music Reproduction Licence).

After being in discussion with management at CCLI (UK), the following points were clarified:

  • Electronic display is not covered by the licence
  • Printing music from a computer is not covered by the licence
  • The licence only covers photocopies of music from authorised publications

The conclusion of this is that if your organization pays for the MRL and you no longer have to photocopy any music because you use Power Music, then you do not require the MRL because there is nowhere on the CopyReport to record this usage. (Of course, you still have to adhere to the copyright rules of the publisher from whom you obtained the music).

So, yet another advantage of using Power Music - it is cheaper to buy it than to pay an annual subscription for the MRL for an organization with over 50 people.

CCLI have assured me that they are looking into this and will be updating their licence terms, so watch this space ....
