Power Music users discussion network

The long-awaited version 2 of Power Music is now available!
And this is *free* to all existing users - your existing license key is used.

IMPORTANT - please read: lots of changes have been made, leading to changes in the database, so it is very important that you make a backup (File>backup) before updating, or export the songs you want to keep.

Changes and new feature are as follows:

New start-up guide
  • Guide to toolbar buttons
  • Quick links to start-up functions
Database changes
  • Lyrics stored and edited separately
  • New fields - ‘First line’, ‘Author’, ‘Copyright information’
  • Statistics of usage stored to help complete CCLI reports
All songs window
  • New toolbar on play list
  • Print song sheets of lyrics from a play list (song must have lyrics to be included in this)
  • Select by First Line added to the select tab
  • Search by Author added to the search tab
Full screen
  • In full screen display of chords sheets - the title, author and copyright information is displayed at the top of the screen – no need to embed in the chord sheet
  • Press ‘P’ in full screen mode to display/hide the play list on the right of the screen. Edit play list on the fly here.
New playlist sidebar (when displaying from playlist in full screen)
  • View the playlist and jump to a song by clicking on it
  • Add to playlist
  • Notes for each song always visible and editable
  • If song has an audio/video attached the Player is visible. This can be played/stopped using controls or by pressing 'A'. You can also attach audio/video to a song from this screen.
New in Main menu
  • Import of multiple songs in from pdf – if you have a large pdf file with lots of songs you can import them from a single screen instead of capturing pages one by one in the song editor
  • Sheet music library management – delete unused files, move the library to another location
  • New ‘Reporting Centre’ – print lists of songs by title, first line, category or author. If chord sheet then you can ‘drill down’ to display and print the chord sheet.
  • New 'Settings' window (Tools>Settings)
Song Editor
  • 2 extra tabs – ‘Lyrics editor’ and ‘Tags’. Lyrics can be extracted from the chord sheet by pressing a button, then edited and saved separately from the chord sheet. These lyrics are used when printing song sheets from the playlist. Melody and Categories have been moved to the ‘Tags’ tab with first line, Author and Copyright information.
  • Import from .txt, .rtf and .pdf directly into the chord sheet and lyrics editors. A major new feature is the ability to extract text from pdf files.
  • New link to add a category when assigning categories
I am sure you will agree that these changes have made vast improvements to Power Music, making it a unique tool for musicians.

You can download directly from here (32 bit only) or go to the download page at http://www.cambronsoftware.co.uk/power_music/PMInstall/PMPublish.htm

Note: for users of version 1.0.2.2 and below. You may find that after installation you have two versions of Power Music in the 'Cambron Software' folder (the newer one showing as 'Power Music - 1'). It is advisable to uninstall the oder version first (after making a backup of course!) before installing the newer one to avoid confusion. Or if you have a shortcut on your desktop make sure the target points to the new version.

This does not apply to version 1.0.2.4, but it will overwrite your database, so please ensure you have a backup.
